Hello, I'm Lindsay Randolph from Markham, Ontario. I have been making jewellery for as long as I can remember. I began making the jewellery for myself and occasionally I would give pieces away to family and friends. As time passed I began receiving requests to make a piece of jewellery for some of their friends. I discovered that I enjoyed designing and making the jewellery for others and decided to start Blingz the Thing in 2008.
I have always loved to do artistic things, and with the enticing world of beads, and their myriad of shapes, colors, and textures, the design possibilities are endless. I am always thinking about new ways to put designs together so that each component is enhanced by those around it, and with the intention that each piece of jewellery is unique as the person wearing it.
I am not only a talented, independent jewellery designer, I’m also wife to a supportive husband and mother to Justin, my seven year old son. (Who has inherited my creativity, who knows, I may be offering Justin Originals in the coming years!)
I cannot really pin down what inspires me to create each unique piece. Many times, there’s something about the colors, shapes and layout of my materials that just speaks to me:
"I'll see certain colors and shapes and I just have to put them together!"
When I’m creating jewellery pieces, I put a tiny piece of myself into each one:
"Whether it is a $5 charm or a $100 necklace, I always take great pride and care to ensure the highest quality construction and craftsmanship. Every piece I make is special...kind of like a small part of me."
When asked what drives me in jewellery making, I responded,
"I've found that there is nothing quite as relaxing as beading and designing jewellery. No matter how stressful my day may have been, the moment I pull out my beads I can feel all of my tension start to melt away. Plus I get to create beautiful things that make other people happy while doing something that I really love. Who could ask for more?"
My goal is to create jewellery full-time, so that I can set my own schedule and have more quality time to spend with my son and to expand my jewellery skills and techniques in other ways as well. (Silver smithing chain maille, casting, precious metal clay, etc).
When I’m not handling customers or creating beautiful jewellery for you, I enjoy
