Glossary descriptions and information for materials used in Blingz the Thing  Jewellery Designs.

Swarovski CrystalsSwarovski Crystal is the finest premium cut crystal bead product on the market. Manufactured in Austria, Swarovski crystal originated in the 19th century when Daniel Swarovski invented a revolutionary glass cutting machine. Each bead is machine-faceted, optically pure, 32% lead crystal with facets that have a brilliance and sparkle unmatched by other crystal bead. They look a lot like diamonds.

Czech Fire-polished beads: – these are facetted glass beads from the Czech Republic.  Czech glass beads have a well-deserved reputation for excellence. The rich, vivid colors are the result of a long-standing tradition of fine craftsmanship employing the finest materials. Bring a touch of Old World elegance to your designs with Czech glass beads.

Sterling Silver: Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver (.925) metal. This high quality standard is used to assure consistent quality, strength and durability among sterling products. Pure silver is realtively soft and can easily damage. So it is commonly combined with alloys to produce a more durable product. Sterling is 92.5% pure instead of 100% pure in order to achieve the proper hardness and stability to resist wear and tear, and hold its consist shape

Fresh Water Pearls: The primary sources for freshwater pearls are China. Pearls are the product of an elaborate process in which a single resilient mussel can be harvested many times yeilding several pearls at a time. You must take very good care of your pearls. They should not be put in liquid jewellery cleaner or harsh chemicals, as this will destroy the pearls.

Base Metal: A collective term for all non-precious metals or alloys with a low intrinsic value. They are relatively inexpensive compared with precious metals, and oxidize relatively easily and are liable to corrosion or discoloration if exposed to substances such as hair spray, perfume and alcohol. Examples include tin, zinc, nickel, iron, lead, aluminium, copper, brass, bronze and aluminium

Availability of One of a Kind Pieces

Most of my pieces are one of a kind. There is a slight possibility that two people will attempt to purchase the same product before the website has been updated to reflect the first sale. If this happens, I will notify the second buyer immediately and offer to create a similar piece, but no duplicates will be made.

I love to do Custom Orders. I will work with you to create the perfect piece. Once a design has been decided on I will require half the payment in advance and the remainder once the project is completed, but prior to shipping. Custom orders cannot be returned or are refundable.  Feel free to Contact me with your questions or ideas about doing a Custom Order.

  Product Variation

Although every effort has been made to faithfully reproduce the true color of my items; due to lighting and photographic variances, as well as being natural gemstones, glass beads, and pearls, I just want to make our customers aware that the exact appearance and color you see through my website may be slightly altered in person. And as well each item is handmade, so please expect some variations in stones and design.   Slight variations are to be expected and that's what makes your handmade jewellery unique!
